In 2008, during a near fatal car accident, Sarah sustained very severe brain trauma, which left her physically and mentally paralyzed. One month later, when she emerged from amnesia, she saw on the news that Australian actor Heath Ledger was dead. This came as no surprise to her, because she had already dreamt it.

Swallow is a new multi channel video installation in development. The work explores the religious, philosophical and ethical consequences of waking up with neurological damage. In dealing with the complex experience of coming back into consciousness with a severe head injury and not completely knowing the person you had once been, the work asks broader questions about perception, subjectivity and how we come to discover our spiritual position in the world around us.
